The ARB welcomes any and all input from the community. Send e-mail to the ARB, or talk to one of its members. The tentative agenda calendar lists what topics we plan to discuss when, and which ARB members have taken on the responsibility for leading that discussion.
The ARB meetings are generally held on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in AC273.
Attendance at ARB meetings is generally open to faculty members interested in particular issues on the agenda. Students are represented on the ARB through CORe
The ARB will occasionally hold closed meetings.
The ARB has the responsibility to foster change and act as a steward of the curriculum. It will both facilitate discussion and have the authority to make decisions, subject in certain cases to review by the faculty and administration. The ultimate authority of the Faculty and College leadership to decide on major curricular issues remains intact. The scope of the ARB's responsibility and authority include:
Authorizing new courses, revisions or course deletions.
Reviewing and authorizing changes in degree requirements.
Regularly reviewing curricular structure and course offerings.
Regularly studying educational effectiveness of the curriculum and recommending areas for improvement.
Maintaining oversight for transfer credit and course substitutions.
Maintaining the official academic catalog of the College.
Passionate pursuit policies. Grading policies.
Normally any recommendations of the ARB that affect graduation requirements for
all students, or represent significant changes in the structure of the
curriculum, are brought to the full faculty for review and approval. The
recommendations of the ARB carry significant weight, and are a priority for
implementation with appropriate review.
ARB membership consists of the Dean of Faculty and five other members of the faculty, three of which will be selected by ballot and two appointed by the Dean of Faculty. The committee shall have one student representative, selected by CORE (A student alternate may also be selected to serve when the student representative is not available). This group of five faculty and one student serve on rotating terms, review faculty recommendations for changes in curriculum or other academically related topics, and make recommendations on behalf of the entire faculty through the Dean of the Faculty.
The ARB delegates a number of tasks to the following subcommittees, each of which contains members that are not on the ARB.
All level 3000 and above Computing courses satisfy the ECE elective course requirement
"Non-linear Dynamics and Chaos" satisfies the ME advanced math course requirement
